Noticing Isn’t the Hard Part
There’s a railroad bridge over 36th and Campbell that I’ve started noticing.
Not because it’s new. It’s old enough that most people who pass under it stopped looking up a long time ago. Trains go over it. People go under it. It’s part of the city’s furniture: useful, permanent, easy to ignore.

Writing
Last week I sat in my car outside the grocery store and wrote a project brief for pozole.
I was trying to decide whether I had enough time to make it that night. Dinner by seven. One store. Under an hour. Pork shoulder if they had a small enough piece. Hominy, chiles, cilantro, radishes, limes. If any of that turned into a scavenger hunt, make something else.
